Privacy Policy

Overview
Parkova is operated by Abundare and is a parking-zone lookup app for Amsterdam. We try to collect as little personal information as possible — only what's needed to keep your saved permit areas and vehicles in sync across your devices. This policy explains what we collect, why, and how we handle it.
What we collect
- Sign-in information: when you sign in with Apple, Google, or email/password, we store your account identifier via Firebase Authentication. We see your email address (and, if you share it, your display name and profile photo) but never your password.
- Your saved permit areas: zones you bookmark, addresses you add, and vehicles you link. These live in our Firestore database under your account so they sync between your devices.
- Usage analytics: we use Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) to understand which features are used — for example that a parking session was started or a top-up screen was opened. Events carry a pseudonymous user ID and device identifiers. They never include your license plates, your Mijn Parkeren codes, addresses, or your precise location.
- Crash and error reports: we use Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) to detect crashes and technical errors so we can fix them. Reports contain device and app-state information but never your license plates, your Mijn Parkeren codes, addresses, or your precise location.
- Location: Parkova reads your device location while you have the app open, to compute the verdict at your current spot. The location stays on your device — we don't send it to a server unless you submit a feedback mail and choose to include it.
Mijn Parkeren connection
If you connect your Mijn Parkeren account, we act as a user-agent on your behalf: the app talks directly to the municipality's parking service using your own visitor-permit codes (meldcode and pincode).
- Your codes are stored only on your device, encrypted in the iOS Keychain. They are never transmitted to our servers, and we cannot see them.
- Permit details and parking sessions shown in the app are fetched live from your own account and are not resold, aggregated, or shared.
- You can disconnect at any time in Settings — this removes the stored codes from your device.
- If you delete and reinstall the app, your stored codes are removed the first time you open it again, so you will need to reconnect.
What we do NOT collect
- Passwords — Firebase Authentication handles those.
- Continuous location tracking — we only read your location when the app is in the foreground.
- Advertising identifiers, contacts, photos, microphone, or browsing data.
- Payment information — there are no in-app purchases at this time.
Third-party services we use
- Firebase Authentication (Google LLC) — for sign-in.
- Firebase Firestore (Google LLC) — for syncing your saved permit areas and vehicles.
- Firebase Analytics (Google LLC) — for anonymous-style usage statistics.
- Firebase Remote Config (Google LLC) — for remote feature flags.
- Firebase Crashlytics (Google LLC) — for crash and error reporting.
- Apple Sign in with Apple — when you choose Apple sign-in.
- Google Sign-In — when you choose Google sign-in.
- Apple MapKit — for showing the map and calculating drive directions; queries go directly to Apple's servers.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We only share with them what's strictly needed for the feature to work.
Your rights
- Access & export: use Settings > Account > Download my data for a copy of everything the app stores about you, or contact us.
- Deletion: open Settings > Account > Delete account. Your auth record and Firestore data are deleted immediately. This action cannot be undone.
- Correction: edit your permit areas and vehicles directly in the app.
Under EU GDPR you also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
Data retention
We keep your account data as long as your account exists. When you delete your account, your Firestore data is removed within 30 days, and Firebase Auth records are deleted immediately.
Your data, portable
You can download a copy of the data the app stores about you (your permit areas, vehicles and parking requests) at any time from Settings > Account > Download my data. Mijn Parkeren permit and session data lives in the municipal system and is not stored by us. Support emails include a random installation identifier (not linked to your name or email) so we can match reports from the same install.
Children
Parkova is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and bump the effective date. For material changes, we'll show you a notice in the app the next time you open it.
